We recently teamed up with Tonkin+Taylor and the Construction Sector Accord to jointly commission a research report on Health and Safety by Design and officially launched this report last night.
The report, titled “Improving health and safety outcomes for the construction sector through better design practice” explores and questions Health and Safety by Design principles and identifies opportunities to modify real-world design practices to give better effect and outcomes.
This is just the beginning, there is plenty of work, feedback and discussion required in order to move forward.

Thank you very much for your time and effort that made this research study possible. Finding participants and developing a view of the construction sector was not straightforward. We appreciated the support of Graham Burke from the New Zealand Construction Industry Council (NZCIC), Malcolm Fleming from the New Zealand Institute of Building (NZIOB), Bruce Kenning from the Facilities Management Association of New Zealand (FMANZ), and Marilyn Moffatt from the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NZIQS).
This project was enabled by funding from the Construction Sector Accord and Tonkin+Taylor.
